Teachers together at TeachMeet. Source: Ewan's archive
In 2006, I helped start TeachMeet, a simple idea that grew into an international movement: teachers sharing what works with other teachers, without the conference machinery.
It began with a handful of educators getting together in Edinburgh to talk about what was really happening in their classrooms. With John Johnston, David Noble and others, I helped turn those informal gatherings into TeachMeet, a free, teacher-led way to exchange ideas and learn from peers. Twenty years later, TeachMeets have been organised around the world, with the same democratic spirit at their heart.
